Why NYC?
We are NYC’s music ecosystem
The talent pool from our participants ranges from up-and-coming college students to Grammy award winning creators living across all 5 boroughs from a span of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. And Anti Social Producers Club has 40% female membership and climbing, while only 2% of women in the broader music industry are producers.
unprecedented financial constraints
This camp will boost our economic prospects. According to Payscale, the average music producer makes $54,832 per year — hardly a glamorous salary with New York’s expensive cost of living. And a recent New York Times article explained how songwriters and producers are suffering economically from payment models in the streaming era.
NYC Musicians are flocking to LA
As Los Angeles Magazine reports, “The center of gravity [in the music industry] has moved to L.A. Every major label used to have their headquarters in New York City. Today the three remaining major labels—Sony, Universal, and Warner—have all shifted the bulk of their operations to Los Angeles. But even more important than labels… the young producers, the young managers, the young artists. They’re all in L.A. now.”
See Ya in June!
